25 KG/BAG Sodium Nitrate CAS 7631-99-4 Formula NaNO3
Sodium nitrate is an inorganic compound. It is colorless, transparent rhombus crystals, or white or slightly yellow granules or powder at room temperature. It tastes bitter and salty, is easily soluble in water and liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in glycerol, and is easily deliquescent. Especially when it contains a very small amount of sodium chloride impurity, the deliquescent property of sodium nitrate is greatly increased. When dissolved in water, the temperature of the solution decreases and the solution becomes neutral. When heated, sodium nitrate is easily decomposed into sodium nitrite and oxygen.

1. In the enamel industry, it is used as a flux, oxidant and raw material for preparing enamel powder.
2. In the glass industry, it is used as a decolorant, defoamer, clarifier and oxidizing flux for various glasses and products.
3. In the non-starvation industry, it is used as a decolorant for molten caustic soda and for the manufacture of other nitrates.
4. In the food industry, it is used as a coloring agent for meat processing to prevent meat from spoiling and to serve as a seasoning.
5. In the fertilizer industry, it is used as a quick-acting fertilizer suitable for acidic soils, especially for root crops such as beets and radishes. In the dye industry, it is used as a raw material for producing picric acid and dyes.
6. In the metallurgical industry, it is used as a heat treatment agent for steelmaking and aluminum alloys. In the machinery industry, it is used as a metal cleaning agent and a blueing agent for ferrous metals.
7. In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used as a culture medium for penicillin. In the cigarette industry, it is used as a combustion aid for tobacco.
1. Health hazard. Irritating to skin and mucous membranes. They have oxidized ferrous iron in blood to ferrous iron, which loses oxygen-carrying capacity. When ingested orally in large quantities, patients experience severe abdominal pain, vomiting, bloody stools, shock, convulsions, coma, and even death.
2. Explosion hazard. Strong oxidizing property, contact with organic matter or phosphorus and sulfur, friction or impact can cause combustion and explosion.
