Sodium Nitrate is white fine crystal.Some are lightgray or buff. The relative molecilar weight is84.99 and density is 2.257. It's easy to bedeliqu escence and to dissolve in water and liquidammonia, but only a lit can dissolve in ethanoland glycerin. The melting point is 271C. Anddecomposition temperature is 380C. ltsdecomposition products are sodium nitrite andoxygen. If heated to higher temperature, it will bedecomposed into the mixed gas of oxygen,azote and oxynitride. It has the strong oxidizingproperty and can cause the inflammation andexplore while mixed with organics, sulfur andsulfite etc.
