PolyAluminium Chloride (PAC for short) is an inorganic high-molecular coagulant, usually in the form of yellow or yellowish-brown powder or granular solid. It is highly soluble in water and its aqueous solution is acidic. It polymerizes through hydroxyl bridging to form high-molecular compounds, which have a strong adsorption bridging capacity and can rapidly coagulate suspended particles in water into larger flocs, thereby achieving water purification.
In the field of water treatment, polyaluminium chloride is a commonly used water purifying agent, widely applied in the treatment of drinking water, industrial wastewater and domestic sewage. It can effectively remove suspended solids, colloids, organic matter and some heavy metal ions in water. Compared with traditional coagulants (such as aluminium sulfate), it has better coagulation effect, wider adaptability to water quality range, less dosage and faster sedimentation speed. In addition, it also plays a significant role in the wastewater treatment of industries such as papermaking, dyeing and printing, and mining, which can optimize the process flow and improve the treatment efficiency. The raw materials for its preparation are mostly bauxite, aluminum ash, etc. The production processes include acid method, alkali method and neutralization method, etc. The basicity degree, alumina content and other indicators of the products obtained by different processes vary. When in use, the dosage needs to be adjusted according to the specific water quality conditions to achieve the best treatment effect.
