Introduction

 

The appearance of anhydrous ferric chloride is dark leaf-like or massive crystals, and dark red under direct light. Very easy to absorb moisture, easily absorb moisture in the air to become crystalline iron chloride (FeCl3·6H2O). It decomposes into ferrous chloride and chlorine at high temperature. It is easily soluble in water, ethanol, ether and acetone, slightly soluble in carbon disulfide, and almost insoluble in ethyl acetate. The relative density (d25) 2.90. The melting point is 282°C. The boiling point is about 316°C, which is corrosive to metals.

Application

 

Organic synthesis catalyst. Analyze copper, selenium and arsenic, and act as an indicator in the determination of phenol, cholesterol and choline.
It is used for sewage treatment, circuit board etching, stainless steel corrosion and mordant. It is a good substitute for solid ferric chloride. Among them, HPFCS high-purity type is used for high-demand cleaning and etching in the electronics industry.
Liquid ferric chloride is an efficient and inexpensive flocculant for the treatment of urban sewage and industrial wastewater. It has significant effects of precipitation of heavy metals and sulfides, decolorization, deodorization, oil removal, sterilization, phosphorus removal, and reduction of effluent COD and BOD.
