Calcium chloride, colorless cubic crystals. General industrial products are white or off-white porous blocks or granules, honeycomb. Odorless, slightly bitter. Relative density 2.15. Melting point 782℃. Boiling point above 1600℃. It is highly hygroscopic and easily deliquesces when exposed to air. It is easily soluble in water, while releasing a large amount of heat, and its aqueous solution is slightly acidic. In its own crystal water, it continues to lose water by heating, and becomes dihydrate at 200℃. When heated to 260℃, it becomes white porous anhydrous calcium chloride.

1. Used as a multi-purpose desiccant, such as for drying gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide, etc.
2. Chelating agent; curing agent; calcium fortifier; refrigerant for freezing; desiccant; anticaking agent; antimicrobial agent; pickling agent; tissue improver.
3. Used as desiccant, road dust collector, defogging agent, fabric fire retardant, food preservative and for making calcium salt.
4. Used as lubricating oil additive.
5. Used as analytical reagent.
6. Mainly used for the treatment of tetany, urticaria, exudative edema, intestinal and ureteral colic, magnesium poisoning, etc. caused by hypocalcemia.
7. Used as a calcium fortifier, curing agent, chelating agent and desiccant in the food industry.
8. Can increase the permeability of bacterial cell walls.
