Calcium chloride is a white or slightly yellowish solid inorganic compound, belonging to the salt class. It is a typical ionic halide and is widely used in multiple fields due to its high solubility, hygroscopicity and dehydrating property. The most common one is the dihydrate (CaCl2·2H2O), whose high solubility enables it to dissolve rapidly in water, releasing a large amount of heat. 4. It is used as a protective agent and refining agent in aluminum-magnesium metallurgy.
5. It is a precipitating agent for the production of lake pigments and is used for deinking in waste paper processing.
