CaCl2 Calcium Chloride are colorless cubic crystals. General industrial products are white or off-white porous lumps or granules, honeycombs. Odorless, slightly bitter taste. The relative density is 2.15. Melting point 782 °c. Boiling point above 1600 °c. It is extremely hygroscopic and easy to deliquescence when exposed to air. It is soluble in water, while releasing a large amount of heat, and its aqueous solution is slightly acidic. Soluble in alcohol, acetone, acetic acid. It reacts with ammonia or ethanol to form CaCl2·8NH3 and CaCI2·4C2 Hs OH complexes, respectively. At room temperature, the precipitation from the crystallization of aqueous solution is often hexahydrate, and it is gradually dissolved when heated to 30 °C
In its own crystalline water, continue to heat and gradually lose water, to 200 °C becomes dihydrate, and then heated to 260 °C becomes white porous anhydrous calcium chloride.

It is used as a dehydrating agent in the production of alcohols, esters, ethers and acrylic resins. Calcium chloride aqueous solution is an important refrigerant for freezers and ice making, which can accelerate the hardening of concrete and increase the cold resistance of building mortar, and is an excellent building antifreeze. Used as antifogging agent and pavement dust collector in ports, fabric fire retardant. Used as a protective agent and refining agent for aluminum-magnesium metallurgy. It is a precipitant for the production of lake pigments. It is used for deinking waste paper processing. It is the raw material for the production of calcium salt.
