Sodium Carbonate Soda Ash Light Na2CO3 Widely Used In the Glass Industry
Sodium carbonate is usually a white powder. It is a strong electrolyte with a density of 2.532g/cm ³ and a melting point of 851° C. It is readily soluble in water and glycerol, slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol, and poorly soluble in propanol. It has the common properties of salts and belongs to inorganic salts. It will absorb moisture and form lumps in damp air, and part of it will turn into sodium bicarbonate. Sodium carbonate, as an important inorganic chemical raw material, is mainly used in the production of flat glass, glass products and ceramic glazes. It is also widely used in daily washing, acid neutralization and food processing, etc. In terms of the environment, sodium carbonate is generally regarded as a relatively harmless substance to the ecosystem. However, large-scale discharge may still affect the pH value and total alkalinity of water bodies, so appropriate management and supervision are needed during use and treatment.

1. The glass industry is the largest source of soda ash consumption, with 0.2 tons of soda ash consumed per ton of glass. It is mainly used for float glass, picture tube glass shells, optical glass, etc.
2. It is used in chemical engineering, metallurgy, etc. The use of heavy soda ash can reduce the flying of alkali dust, lower raw material consumption, improve working conditions, enhance product quality, and at the same time alleviate the erosion of alkali powder on refractory materials, thereby extending the service life of kilns.
3. It can be used in pastries and flour-based foods as a buffer, neutralizer, and dough conditioner. Use it in appropriate amounts as needed in production.
4. It is used in the food industry as a neutralizing agent and leavening agent, such as in the production of amino acids, soy sauce, and flour-based foods like steamed buns and bread. It can also be made into an alkaline water and added to noodles to enhance their elasticity and extensibility. Sodium carbonate can also be used to produce monosodium glutamate.
5. It is used as a water softener in the printing and dyeing industry.
