White combustible crystalline powder with a formaldehyde odor. Melting point 121-123℃. Flash point 71.1℃. Autoignition point 300℃. Slowly dissolves in cold water, and quickly dissolves in hot water. Releases formaldehyde in aqueous solution. Solubility in water at 20℃ 0.24g/lOOcm3 H2 0. Insoluble in ethanol. Soluble in caustic soda and potassium solutions.
