Hexamine Powder 25 KG/BAG White Crystal Hexamine CAS 100-97-0
White to light yellow crystalline powder. Combustible. Almost odorless, sweet and bitter. Soluble in water, ethanol, chloroform and other organic solvents, hardly soluble in benzene, carbon tetrachloride, and insoluble in gasoline. Releases hydrogen cyanide when heated to 300℃, and decomposes into methane, hydrogen and nitrogen when heated further. Decomposes into ammonia and formaldehyde in weak acid solution. When in contact with flame, it burns immediately and produces a smokeless flame. Volatile. Combustible in case of open flame and high heat. Can form explosive mixture when mixed with oxidants. Large-area contact with nitrocellulose can cause combustion. Violent reaction in contact with sodium peroxide. Its vapor is heavier than air and tends to gather at low places.

1. Used as a curing agent for resins and plastics, a catalyst and foaming agent for amino plastics, an accelerator for rubber vulcanization (accelerator H), and an anti-shrinkage agent for textiles.
2. A raw material for organic synthesis.
3. Used as a disinfectant for the urinary system. It has no antibacterial effect itself, but is effective against Gram-negative bacteria. Its 20% solution can be used to treat axillary odor, sweaty feet, tinea corporis, etc. It can be mixed with sodium hydroxide and sodium phenol to be used as a phosgene absorbent in gas masks.
4. Used to make pesticides and insecticides. When reacting with fuming nitric acid, a highly explosive cyclone explosive, referred to as RDX, can be produced.
5. It can be used as a reagent and analysis reagent for the determination of bismuth, indium, manganese, cobalt, thorium, platinum, magnesium, lithium, copper, uranium, beryllium, tellurium, bromide, iodide, etc.
6. It is a commonly used military fuel.
